ASCO South Base - Peterhead
When a wharf storage warehouse servicing many of the key offshore oil industry operators was impact damaged, Total Reinstatement Services were appointed to the building repairs comprising part renewal of the portal frame and renewal of the affected roof and wall cladding.
The project presented many challenges not least of all the quay side exposure to winter weather and the live operational environment of both the base and the warehouse building. With specialist materials worth many millions of pounds arriving and departing the wharf on a 24/7 basis, works necessarily required to be scheduled around the business operation. This involved working throughout the night where required to avoid disruption to the business whilst at all times working to the enhanced Health and Safety standards imposed by the offshore operators. Security and protection of the ‘stock’ was paramount and with substantial L&A damages applicable, failure to deliver on time was not an option.
With a full weather tight temporary roof spanning the 40 meter width of the building, works were able to progress despite the challenges and handover was achieved ahead of programme to the expressed delight of the client and there tenants. The acknowledged success of this contract is testimony to our commercially aware team on such major complex losses. So impressed were the clients that they subsequently negotiated with TRS to re-clad the entire wharf building roof and carry out some additional alterations at a total cost in excess of £750,000.
